Embroidery needles have long eyes to allow a variety of embroidery thread thicknesses to be used. The best carbon, hardened, tempered steel is used to maximise resistance to corrosion. The tapered and slightly conical points plus a polished body ensure the best penetration into fabrics. The needle eyes are smooth with no snags and protect the thread from damage.. 

Embroidery (Crewel) Needles Size 3-9 (smaller than tapestry needles but still fairly wide and with a large eye. Useful for using multiple strands of stranded cotton.)

Embroidery (Crewel) Needles Size 5-10 (finer again but still with fairly wide eyes, a great all rounder if you don't like to use tiny needles.)
