This sewing workshop is aimed at confident beginners and is an ideal follow up to our 3 and 4 week Learn to Sew Workshops

During this sewing course, you will learn to sew two garments, a lovely woven blouse and a stretch tshirt.

Week 1 & 2:

In week 1 and 2 you will make a pretty top with a lovely V neckline, bust darts and sleeves.

What you will learn:
- Taking your measurements and choosing a size.
- Placing pattern pieces correctly and cutting out.
- Sewing and finishing seams.
- Applying a neckline facing.
- Using interfacing.
- Setting in a sleeve.
- How to mark and sew darts.
- Sewing a hem.

What you will need to bring:
1.5m of woven fabric if your fabric measures 145cm wide, or 2m of fabric if your fabric measures 110cm wide.
Please note you can buy your fabrics at our city centre store and are entitled to a 10% discount on all items bought for your workshop. Alternatively you may wish to purchase your fabrics elsewhere, which is also fine.

Week 3 & 4:

In week 3 & 4 you will make a classic A-line skirt with a side zip.  This is a lovely staple wardrobe garment.

This pattern is suitable from a 25-44" waist (63-110cm) and 35.5-52" hips (90-132cm).

This pattern is suitable for a confident beginner sewer / anyone who is able to sew a straight stitch.

What you will need for this workshop:

- 2.5metres of fabric depending on the width of your fabric and the size you are wanting to make. You will also need matching thread for your fabric, 20cm/8inch zip and light to medium weight interfacing.

If you are unsure what size you are, we can help you measure yourself prior to the class and advise on the type of fabrics required, but please do come to the town centre shop on another day to allow for this.

You can bring along your own fabric or purchase fabric in the shop prior to your course. All workshop attendees will receive a 10% discount on all fabrics and notions bought and used in the workshop.  Please also note that the workshop cost includes the cost of the pattern, which you can take home with you after the class.

To attend this workshop we would expect you to be able to do some basic sewing.  If you are unable to sew but are interested in this sewing course, please sign up to a beginner sewing course first. If no dates are available, please do get in touch to discuss. Many thanks.

This sewing workshop takes place across 4 consecutive weeks and each workshop is 2.5 hours long.

Great course!

Bought this course for my wife's early Christmas present as she makes loads of things in fabric but never clothes and she really wanted to learn how to make some clothes so she can make things for her grandaughter (although I think this is just the excuse to get started!) Anyway she loved it and found the course and trainer excellent and proudly came home with a couple of finished garments!

3 week Learn to Sew Workshop

This was a brilliant workshop! Kathy started by showing us how to use a sewing machine and gave us confidence ready to start sewing. We made a cushion cover in the first week (ducks for my grandson) and then went on to making pyjama bottoms in week 2 and 3. I’ve also made another cushion cover at home (foxes for my granddaughter). They love them!
Kathy made it a very relaxed and enjoyable experience, so much so that I’ve already booked the 4 week introduction to Dressmaking course. Can’t wait!

Absolutely loved it

I was very nervous about this but I LOvED IT. I cannot recommend it enough if you are looking for a really solid introduction to sewing. It’s hands on learning with an amazing, and patient teacher and a lovely sized class of others in exactly the same position as you. After the introduction course I’ve since bought a sewing machine and made a dress! Booked on the next course already to develop skillset a little more. This is a fantastic course - it really is.
